Rukongai

The sprawling shanty town surrounding Seireitei. It is here where most souls live in impoverished conditions. Due to the aging difference between living humans and souls, souls tend to collect on the side of Soul Society, causing enormous overpopulation issues. With no real government to guide them, Rukongai is a terribly dangerous place full of crime and abhorrent poverty.

Soul Society

Soul Society is the spiritual realm where all cleansed souls go to after their deaths. It is here where they live out a second life until their deaths there, after which they are reincarnated. Most resident souls live impoverished lives in the sprawling ghetto's of Rukongai.
