High-Noon, the blistering sun bakes the courtyards of the Ichibantai barracks. All the higher seated officers have gone off to attend the Central Chambers 46 assembly, or witness its proceedings as likewise witnesses for their Taichō. What Central 46 perceived as a problem now though, the ordinary Shinigami had felt brewing for a long time. Rukongians shouting insults at patrolling officers, local brawls, and graffiti calling for government reform are nothing new to any mildly seasoned Shinigami. But now other Bantai have indicated that Central 46 ought to take heed of this 'voice of the people'. The political machinations of the noble houses and between the Bantai go over the heads of most seated officers. They are fighters, not debaters after all. You can't talk a Hollow out of eating you.

But even the thickest skull will have sensed the burning hot iron of complete silence. After two weeks of being confined to the walled-off barracks, uncertain which Bantai would make the first move, tension was at a breaking point. Things will be decided on today though. The vote will be held, the proclamation rejected and that would be that. The riots in Rukongai could be dealt with by means of benign Bakudō spells and a firm projection of Reiatsu.

The patrol roster — today again only mention the barrack's perimeter — consisting of two names; Caius Kogami (@gambitwolf579) and Kisaragi Madara (@divineshinigami). They are to decide among themselves, who would be the one to clean out the compound's latrine and who the kitchen.

Caius lay on his bed, the heat from the sun crept in through a small opening in his blinds and caressed his face. Things in the Seireitei had been eerily quiet. Riots had begun to break out and shinigami had been prohibited from entering the Rukongai and instead had to stay in their barracks until further notice. He had trusted his captain's orders and knew that the meeting today at Central 46 was to clarify a few things however, he was worried about how much force was to be used. The residents weren't trained like they were, so what was to happen? He could feel his eyes begin to drift downward, so he got himself out of bed. He hadn't even checked the roster for today. "It's all messed up," He thought to himself as he began to make his way down to see what jobs were available today while rubbing his eyes. Upon getting to the roster, he stared at it almost confused by the words that had been written. Firstly, there were only two names on it, himself and Madara another member who had joined around the same time as himself, and secondly, the only jobs available were cleaning. Him, clean? Preposterous! There must've been some mistake. With everything going on, where his skills really needed to be put into doing such a mundane task? He rolled his eyes and sighed. A jobs a job after all, he may as well suck it up and start. Only question was, the toilets or the kitchen?

OOC: I assume that there is an assignment board of some sort. I will edit the post if that is not the case.

It was a rough night for a new member of the 1st Division. Unusual nightmares haunted Madara's sleep. As much as he would want to stay in his bed it was due time to get up and look at today's assignment board. After taking a shower and dressing up, he casually walked towards the assignment board while giving his absolute best to keep his eyes open. As he was approaching it he could see someone was already there.

"Oh, someone is already there." Madara thought to himself as he approached.

He stood right beside the person and greeted him while yawning "Good morning!"

"Maaan, cleaning duties. I am Madara, I do not believe we met." he extended his right arm for a handshake as he looked at the assignments.

The assignment board was woefully empty. Only two pressing matters aside from patrolling the perimeter of the barracks were written up. Kitching cleaning and cleaning the latrine. Whether it was the Taichō or someone else, they were in too much of a hurry to decide who did what specifically.

Caius continued to stare, his eyes narrowing as the confusion lingered in his mind. Was this punishment? Suddenly, he could feel a presence coming towards him and a voice accompanied by a yawn. Turning, he saw a man, around a similar height to himself with long black hair and an eyepatch over one eye. He raised a brow, looking down at the extended hand as the newcomer introduced themselves as Madara, the other name on the board. He extended his own hand out to meet the other's "Uh... Caius... seems we both got the raw end of the deal" With his other hand, he would run it through his blond hair, slicking it back slightly. "So, kitchen or latrine? What one do you want?" He asked.

Madara shook Caius's hand.

A few moments later he slapped his own cheeks and turned his head towards the Caius "If you do not mind I will take the latrine. I am afraid if I go into the kitchen I will grab something to eat and fall asleep somewhere."

He stood there waiting to see if Caius would object for some reason. Cleaning the latrine is not exactly the first choice for most people.

He had been surprised by the answer that his squad mate had said. He was half expecting to be stuck with cleaning the latrine, but Madara had thrown him a safety net and instead gave him the kitchen. A rush of glee ran over his entire body, but he contained it within himself and didn't let it overtake his entire face. "Sure, that will work" He responded with a nod. "I guess I shall see you around Kisaragi Madara" He then went on his way toward the kitchen, the smile finally crossing his face! How hard will the kitchen duty be? A few plates, cutlery, and the floors. Easy, he will have this done in no time!

The Gotei 13's collectivist culture — the group before the individual — prevails, a testament to their esprit de corps. With few words, the officers decide who does which task. It shouldn't be too long before the Taichou returns after all and their cleaning work is to be inspected. Yet, expectation and reality would be at odds today. The First Division will find itself at the heart of a plot...soon.

@leonhartcartelfrancis starts on the perimeter wall of the compound next to the kitchen. @divineshinigami starts on the opposite end of the compound and can reach @gambitwolf579 if they use Shunpo in 1 post.

Yoshito Mamon appeared inside the 1st Division HQ, his infiltration was a success, as one of the shinigami that was part of the rebellion, his duty would be to steal a certain 'key', he was surprised at how lax the security was, and all he had to do was crush down, tip toe around the area as he made his advance. 

His reiatsu was concealed enough to fool a low seated officer like him, however, should a higher seat get involved, Mamon was almost certain of getting caught.

Caius agreed to Madara's suggestion. As both started to go their separate ways, with their backs turned Madara shouted to his fellow squadmate "If you need any help, just let me know."

Madara went about his way. He took the mop, a brush and cleaning supplies from the storage and went to the latrine.

"Maaaan! These gloves suck, we will need to get some better ones" Madara exclaimed as he finished putting on gloves. He took a smaller brush and started brushing the toilets.

Caius gave Madara a nod as he suggested if they needed help to give them a shout. "Uh, you too" He called back. As he began to make his way toward the kitchen, Caius took a wrong turn. He hadn't fully gotten used to the layout of the place, and this showed from his clumsy directional skills. "I shoulda asked Madara for a hand finding the place," He thought before his eyes caught the sight of someone sneaking around. He would press his body up against the wall, within a small alleyway, and peer out to look at the direction the man was going. "Didn't think anyone else was around" He said quietly, his eyes narrowing as he kept his gaze fixated on this new arrival.

It should not have been long, he kept his pace as he moved stealthy to his desired location. He was sure that he was not going to be seen as the security in the premises looked too weak.

Just one more hall left and he was glory bound. His Master would bless him and so, Mamon pressed on while unbeknownst to him, his presence was already noticed.
