Bleach Anime Ichigo Returns in New Thousand Year Blood War Trailer!

The Bleach Anime returns with Ichigo in two new trailers. Obviously, we’re all excited for the Thousand Year Blood War arc to be released in October of 2022. We’ll have to make do with the trailers being periodically shown before that. Watch the latest two trailers below.

Bleach Anime Trailer Thoughts

First off, Studio Pierrot absolutely rocked it with the rendering and animation of the new Bleach Anime! Compared to the days of 480p DVD quality of the early 2000s, the new arc looks like a SpaceX shuttle compared to the Lunar Lander. Finally, we’ll be able to enjoy Bleach in 4k HD. Justice! Just look at how sick the new Hollows look and the glint of their red eyes. In the first trailer, we’re introduced to the cast including our familiar heroes. New(er) faces are some of the Quincy, like Bambietta Basterbine, Jugram Haschwalt and Bazz-B. That they opted to show these Quincy, in particular, tells me that this is the trailer for the FIRST new season only. We’re looking at a multi-season arc then. Excellent! That’s about it for the first trailer though, not a lot of information is shown and the cutscenes are very VERY short. The Kaisergesang prophesy at the beginning was a nice touch, although probably lost on anyone except faithful Bleach enthusiasts.

The second trailer is way more action-packed and gives us a few glimpses of the earlier battles in the arc. These are definitely the first fights, taking place in the Real World when the effects of the Quincy’s machinations in Hueco Mundo start to affect the other worlds. Of course, there is also Quilge Opie in Hueco Mundo. Going by the length of previous Bleach seasons, that’s probably enough material for the first new season right there. My prediction? Season 16 ends right with the conclusion of the fight in Hueco Mundo.

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Staff

We also get to know the staff for the Bleach Thousand-Year Blood War Arc. Michio Hasegawa (Shadows House), Sei Komatsubara (Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity), and Kumiko Takayanagi (Akudama Drive ) are chief animation directors. Satoshi Sakai (Attack on Titan last season’s effect animation director), Yoshihiro Kanno and Yeong-Hoon Jeong (both also in Sword Art Online: Alicization) are the action effects animation directors. Yoshio Tanioka (Akudama Drive) is the art director, Saori Gouda (Akudama Drive) is the colour designer, and Kazuhiro Yamada (Akudama Drive) is the photography director. Shirou Sagisu (Bleach) returns as the music composer. This is quite the spectacular staff! If their previous works are anything to go by (and the trailers confirm it basically), the new Bleach animation will be nothing like the old one.

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Voice Actors

They managed to get the old cast back together, with the regrettable absence of Masaaki Tsukada who passed away in 2014. Instead, Captain-General Genryusai Yamamoto will be voiced by Binbin Takaoka. Ywach will be voiced by Takayuki Sugou (Bleach: Zangetsu, Naruto: Hashirama Senju). The rest of the voice-acting cast is built mainly of veteran VA’s with blockbuster anime on their names. It seems no expense was avoided to make this new Bleach arc spectacular. We have Naomi Kusumi (The Saga of Tanya the Evil) as Ichibe Hyosube, Youji Ueda (Vinland Saga) as Oetsu Nimaiya, Tomoyuki Shimura as Tenjiiro Kirinji, Rina Satou as Shutara Senjumaru, and Ayumi Tsunematsu as Kirio Hikifune.

For the Sternritter we have Yuuichirou Umehara (Goblin Slayer as Goblin Slayer) as Jugram Haschwalt, Shunsuke Takeuchi (Caligula) as Askin Nakk Le Vaar, Ayana Taketatsu (K-On! as Azusa Nakano) as Bambietta Basterbine, Yuuki Ono as Bazz-B, Yumi Uchiyama as Candice Catnipp, Natsuki Hanae as Gremmy Thoumeaux, and Satoshi Hino (Overlord as Ainz Ooal Gown) as Lille Barro.
