[Event #1 - Quincy] YHWH's Oasis

Game Master Narrator text is in cursive blue.

They were coming. With every possibility laid out before him, YHWH listened to his people as they approached; a group of three scouts had spied the convoy from the city and had returned diligently to report upon the enemies movements. Of course, YHWH knew they were on their way, knew their numbers and their killing intent. Knew the so called priests and their reliance upon their feeble powers. Knew and weaved their fate as the Kuwen came into their own powers. Some of the Kuwen took to their gifts with startling efficiency - these individuals he kept a close eye on as they presented themselves to him, and would be his lieutenants should they prove their worth in the coming days. One such man had been a simple blacksmith*(1) and he was very interested in his fate; would he thrive in the face of the coming battle? Or would he crumple and be a disappointment? YHWH could simply 'look' if he so wished, but his powers had been drained somewhat with the gifting of so many facets and what remained he conserved and used to watch over the approach of the enemy. He could have simply 'looked' over his people and chosen the most worthy immediately, but the fall of Baal Dagan's heretical city needed the voices of the Kuwen people as a whole as it's death cry and the few that would have been chosen, although capable, did not a proper following make.

Amongst the unwashed masses, there had been another that had caught his eye*(2). This one was... dangerous, yes, but his powers were worthy of note and his unassuming appearance made those around him quick to trust. YHWH had noticed several impoverished families seemed to know and trust this man especially well, and a tiny flicker of 'sight' came to him - boredom masked as charity as grain was handed from hand to hand.

Crooking a finger, the girl whom had been the other intended sacrifice came forwards with a cup of cool water. She poured him a drink and listened to his command faithfully.

"The blacksmith and the pretending beggar... bring them to me, for I would look upon them."

The camp was alive with the hopes of his people. The sun would rise in a few hours and with it came the arrival of the priests and a battle that would leave many dead. Before they arrived, he would convene with these two especially and measure their worth.

He stood amongst the masses, and waited for what the boy would do next. Surely the divine power he had felt from the boy meant that he had the power to grant salvation to those that needed it.

His eyes caught the sight of a beggar, the man was obviously not a beggar for Julian could feel his strength from where he stood. It would appear that amongst the masses there were more talented people just like him.

Soon he heard the footsteps of someone approaching him and when he turned to greet the stranger, it appeared that the person who had approached him was the very girl that had been doomed to die. How ironic, only moments ago she had a pale face, seemed hopeless but now her transformation was apparent; visible for all to see.

"YHWH seeks your presence." She said with a charming voice, the fear from her no longer existing. "Lead the way." He said as he dug into his heel to follow after her.

"YHWH seeks your presence," the girl said.

Gau was seated underneath a tree, enjoying the shade. He looked up at the lithe figure cradled by the sunlight. "So he does. Opposites do attract, they say."

The girl hesitated and tarried for a moment. "Excuse me, sir?"

Gau sighed and sprung up on his feet. "It means we'll decide whether we kill each other or help each other."

She averted her questioning gaze. "Why would you kill each other? YHWH seems like a good man."

"Good, yes. A man? Not a chance."

"Boy then," she corrected.

Gau smiled and shook his head. "Ah, people. You're all so oblivious. And, what irks me most is that I'm oblivious too. It's time we found out. Shall we?"

Utterly confused, she gestured towards the tent that was YHWH's. "He is waiting."

That made him chuckle. "Waiting, for someone who knows not time that's pretty impressive."
