A small buzzing sound could be heard coming from his locket, Haruki pulled out a small tablet “well Takasugi San, no idea the details. But the blood test is back…” glancing over at Madara. “Let’s check on you…” pulling his chart out. “Hmm” shifting his attention back and forth from the chart to Madara.”looks like we have to cut that foot off…” grinning like a mad scientist. slowly approaching him extending out his hand. “Nah kidding, I’ll see the problem… just a quick scan.” Placing his hands over the ankle a light pink glow appeared, Haruki performed a quick reiastu scan.”easy fix… Tsuugen“ a green orb formed, slowly turning his hand so his palm was facing the area. Slowly sending the orb in and tying it off.”this will last eight hours…” he glanced back over at Takasugi… “the nurse will soon be back with the shot, the pills will take two days to make. “ his focus shifted back, with a soft sigh he mumbled. “ Chougen” each of his fingers began glowing pale white, gently he massaged the area, doing it for three minutes until the swelling was gone. Concealing the kaido, he then carefully bandaged the foot. “Well, careful walking on it Gi…” almost saying giant. “Madara San…”
His attention moved to the door seeing the nurse standing by it with the needle. “Thanks…” walking over, and taking it, a cheerful, yet scary grin formed on his face. Turning to Takasugi revealing the 10 inch needle. “This will hurt me, more than you…” slowly walking over to him. “The bad news, is I’ll need to inject this into your spine. Please stand up.” He asked.
12th Division captain shifted his attention to Madara. A shiver went down Madara's spine as Haruki threw a comment that his leg would need to be amputated but luckily it was a joke.
A sigh of relief could be heard *Sigh* "Ha ha ha...good one Captain." Madara tried to make a joke sarcastically.
12th Division Captain proceeded to treat the injury. To Madara's surprise, it only took a brief amount of time to apply the treatment.
"So...that is it, Captain Haruki?" with a soft voice Madara asked the Captain if his treatment was over as he watched the interaction between the two Captains.
Takasugi huffed out a quiet laugh when asked about his so called 'illness'. "12th division shenanigans, permanent as far as anybody can tell. Haruki Taichou has very kindly offered to make me some medication until something a little more... long-term can be found."
He watched with unabashed interest as the green orb was pushed to his skin and then dispersed - he was amazed to note he immediately felt better. The discomfort would undoubtedly follow him in some form for the near future, but with the 4th Division's expertise it would be, at least, manageable. "I really can't thank you enough, Haruki-san. You're a miracle worker."
If he could eat his words he surely would - he had naively thought the green orb was the be all and end all of his immediate treatment. How wrong he was.
"R-right..." he said, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. Shimmying out of the top half of his uniform to let it dangle behind him, he exposed his fevered skin to the cooler air of the infirmary and was immediately overtaken with goose-flesh. Across his entire back, shoulders, chest and stomach sprawled the linework of a gigantic Munewari tattoo. Even without the colour, it was a sight to see with the only clear patch of untattooed skin running from the base of his throat down to his groin. Across his back, the Munewari depicted a kraken attempting to drown a Japanese dragon, leaving storms and wrecked ships in their wake. He coughed awkwardly, shaking his head. "Can't remember, wouldn't bother asking.", he muttered by way of explanation.
Haruki simply nodded his head at Madara, while approaching Takasugi. “That’s all, you’re free to go. The kaido I used will ware off in 8 hours, and the other reduced the swelling… I’m able to discharge you now…”
”Well…” Pausing seeing the giant man prepare for the shot. His focus didn’t on the tattoos. “Welp… Takasugi…” Prepping the needle, smirking like an insane scientist. “The good news is with this, it was made quickly… “ He said, aiming the needle at the base of his spine, slowly pushing it in. With one quick motion he injected his own serum, and pulled the needle out. Quickly, using the same kaido as before to close the needle mark. Haruki, placed the needle in a container by the bed. “Well… Takasugi San, this will help off put the issues until the medication is ready, and I have a proper serum of my own made…”
His attention shifted over to the doorway, then back at the men in the room. “Well, you two are free to go…”
“Takasugi San, please come back in two days.” Glancing down, and taking an iPad out. With a simple tap on the screen he discharged them both. “I miscalculated your stay Takasugi San, come back here in two days for the shot, and to pick up the medication…”
There wasn't much in life that could be compared to the sensation of having a needle slipped between your vertebrae, and even less that Takasugi himself could say he had experienced in recent memory. Being comparatively younger than most amongst the Shinigami ranks, he grit his teeth to suppress any voluntary sign of discomfort. It did little to stop the beads of sweat running down his spine, but it was worth it for the immediate relief he felt as the medicine went to work.
He swallowed roughly, not looking forwards to a repeat performance. "Hai, hai..."
With hands that quaked gently, he pulled his shihakusho back over his shoulders and slipped his haori back on, wincing as his back flexed to accommodate the movement. "Thank you once again, Haruki-san. I'll be sure to return in two days..."
“Well Takasugi San…” Picking his chair up, and plopping down keeping eye contact with the giant man. “Come back in two days, both of you are free to go. With one simple movement Haruki pushed back rolling out of the room with his chair, rolling a few feet down the hall stopping in front of a door labeled secret medical lab.
“Time to prepare the shots, and medicine…” pushing the door open, and simply rolling into the room.
(two days later. )
After two long sleepless days, An overworked tired Haruki stepped out of the room with two boxes labeled top secret.
Takasugi's return trip to the infirmary was filled with a steady, thumping unease that sat in the back of his throat. The limp he had almost immediately acquired after being jabbed in the back had almost vanished entirely, but the mental wound of such an unpleasant sensation followed him around relentlessly. He swallowed down the feeling of apprehension, only to feel his stomach turn in knots as he raised his hand to knock at the door.
"Haruki-san? Sorry I'm late, I was just..." his voice trailed off awkwardly as the door creaked open - the gentle tapping of his knocking opened the door slightly, revealing a dimly lit corridor. He swallowed again. Perhaps this was a mistake. He coughed and shook his head, a phantom twinge of pain in his back making him hesitate. His new friend wouldn't subject him to anything unnecessary... surely?
Shivering, he strode forwards into the gloom, trying to remember the location of the examination room he had been taken to before.
Haruki forced a smile, which appeared much more menacing then friendly due to lack of rest. “You’re fine Takasugi…” He held the two bagged boxes out.” These contain two months worth of banana flavored pills… Take two every day…”
With a soft sigh, his mind drifted off as he walked over to an examination room. Simply motioning for his fellow captain to follow him.
switching the light on, almost felt like looking directly into the sun. The lack of sleep would be much more noticed in the well lit room.
Takasugi nodded, his immediate relief palpable. Whereas he had the utmost respect for Haruki, whom he had come to consider a friend in the short time they had known each other, the other's seemingly random ominous aura still sent a ripple of goosebumps down his back. He hurried to catch up to the Yonbantai Taichou, his crimson-glassed goggles sparing him from the halogen glow of the lights above. It was a lucky thing too, he didn't think he had much more in him to handle a shock this early in the morning.
"Thank you, Haruki-san. I can't thank you enough honestly."
Haruki awaited in the examination room, sitting down in his creepy looking chair. It looked cheap, and like a basic chair one would use at a computer. The creepy factor come into the different distinct colors, and then being put together with zigzag stitches. In his hands were charts, the folder like most stuff had the same pattern. From an outside view, he looked more like a mad scientist then a doctor. “Well Takasugi…” Reaching up and twisting an odd snapped bolt/screw sticking out the wall, with each turn an eerie clicking sounded echoed within the room. “I have your medical charts….” With each word, he turned the screw again. “Unfortunately… the 12th hasn’t responded to me…” his focus and demeanor changed, almost like he was angry with Takasugi. “Takasugi…” his tone much more stern, a bone chilling smile formed across his face. Haruki stood up, slowly approaching him, reaching into his lab coat/haiori. To one this would almost look like the scene from a horror movie, slowly he piled out a needle much bigger than the last, likely 10 times longer. “Welp, time to stick this into your spine…” cackling like a mad scientist, appearing much more crazier then any member of the 12th. Once he was inches away, Haruki paused, locking eyes with Takasugi. “Ready?” He asked, keeping the same tone, and insane smile.
“Takasugi…” he tried to contain his laughter, but keeping serious all the time was difficult. With each passing moment, his terrifying smile slowly cracked, soon he couldn’t help but to laugh at his fellow captain. Wondering if he managed to scare the poor man. “No worries this is a fake needle. Tossing it aside. “Honestly, you don’t even need a shot…” His tone much more normal, and more welcoming. “I do have good news, I have a treatment planned set up for you… I think with on a year, I can have you back to normal… Takasugi San…. Even if the 12th doesn’t help… I hope I didn’t scare you too much…”
“So the medicine…” Passing Takasugi his charts. “ Take two everyday, try to keep the same time. While it doesn’t matter when. It’s more affect if the timeframe is the same. I tried getting someone from the 12th to work with me, but I didn’t hear back…”
Takasugi swallowed roughly as Haruki loomed over him with the giant needle, the blood draining from his face in record time. He was, at least, thankful that his goggles hid the wide-eyed stare of terror to some degree. The air left his lungs in a quick desperate rush when the needle was revealed to be fake, though it didn't do anything to slow the pounding rhythm of his heart beating against his rib cage. He swallowed again, mouth dry and teeth chattering as he tried to pay attention to what Haruki was saying - 12th Division ignoring requests for data? We couldn't say he was shocked, though it was hard to feel anything beyond the fear draining slowly out of him.
"They're... not known for their cooperation, Haruki-san." Takasugi rasped, adrenaline making him shake as he reached out to take the chart. "And oh, don't mind me - never was good with needles..."
The treatment plan seemed... less invasive than what Takasugi had been pumping himself up to face. In fact, it was downright reasonable. Suspiciously so. He shook his head, fighting the shudder that ran down his spine. His poor, abused spine. "Sounds good... thank you, truly Haruki-san. You're a life saver."
Much to his amusement the third's captain Takasugi reacted just as anticipated. Haruki couldn't help but chuckle at him.
"Well, I don't think I need their help..." he replied with a confident smile. "The treatment I have made should do the trick..." He said, making eye contact.
He shrugged his shoulders. "Just doing my job and helping a friend." Patting him on the shoulder and letting out a soft sigh. "I think this wraps up your appointment..."
"Come back in a month, I am going to do some remolding." he said accidently changing the subject. "Well, you're free to go Takasugi San..."
