After thinking it over, it makes sense they put the Bankai in the prologue/hollow fighting. We might disapprove, but we're not your average fan. I'd call us pretty hardcore Bleach geeks. The average watcher might only have a vague memory of Bleach and remember that they enjoyed it. The hollow fighting beginning was an introduction into why they should be thrilled about seeing Bleach again.

Very true, they were pulling hard on the strings of nostalgia trying to remind olde fans why they loved the series originally.
